The surgery took place on October 24th. He received two saphenous bypasses which bypass the blocked section and create another alternative path for blood flow.
After the surgery, Rodrigues had another warning: the diagnosis of diabetes, a pathology that the comedian had not been aware of until that moment: “I didn’t know I had it and that I was eating sugar desperately. Next to the computer there was ‘It was a jar of gummies. I was eating sugar cubes 24 hours a day,’ he said Fantastic, last Sunday, the 10th.
The discovery led the actor to reflect on the importance of changing eating habits and regularly monitoring his doctor. In a good mood, he reported eliminating all sweets from home after his diagnosis: “I certainly recalculated (the route) in relation to food, I came home the day I found out I was diabetic, I went to sweets in the cupboard and I did a rubbish ritual,” he commented.
What is diabetes?
According to the Ministry of Health, diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels, caused by insufficient production or resistance to insulin.
The disease affects more than 13 million Brazilians and can lead to cardiovascular complications, as in the case of the actor.
Prevention includes a balanced diet, regular exercise and avoiding excessive consumption of alcohol and tobacco.
Symptoms and treatment
The main symptoms of diabetes include excessive hunger and thirst, tiredness and weight loss.
Treatment depends on the type of diabetes: type 1, generally diagnosed in childhood, requires daily administration of insulin; Type 2, more common and associated with bad habits, can be managed with a balanced diet and medications. Gestational diabetes, which occurs temporarily during pregnancy, requires careful monitoring.
The actor also used his experience to warn followers on his social networks about the importance of annual preventive exams, eating and drinking in moderation and controlling blood sugar levels.
