The new generations are born already connected and know how to use smartphones and tablets. Therefore, it is difficult to imagine a scenario in which they do not access the Internet, play video games or watch videos on social media. However, there are reasons to be concerned about this overexposure.
A Canadian study, published in JAMA Pediatrics in 2019, for example, showed that letting a child spend too much time using cell phones, tablets and other electronic devices it can delay the development of language and social skills. The survey followed 2,500 people children two years and, according to experts, they should not have contact with screens for up to 18 months.

Another more recent study, published in June 2022, in Open JAMA NetworkI discovered it frequent use of electronic devices calming bored or agitated children is associated with aa greater emotional dysregulationespecially in boys. For the research, 422 parents and 422 children aged three to five were interviewed.
