One of the most watched soap operas in the history of Brazilian television has gained space on Globo afternoons
It seems that the popular call for the return of the Tieta it worked! After being much desired by the public, the classic soap opera starring Betty Faria was chosen to replace it Soul mate during Vale a Pena Ver de Novo in the Globo afternoons. Inspired by romance Tieta do Agresteby Jorge Amado, the work returned to screens on December 2, 35 years after its first screening.
To remember history
The classic soap opera born between 1989 and 1990 is set in the fictional Santana do Agreste, in the Brazilian northeast. The plot begins when Tieta, played in the first phase by Claudia Ohana, is chased out of the city by her father, Zé Esteves (Sebastião Vasconcelos), outraged by the young woman’s liberal behavior and influenced by the intrigues of his other daughter, Perpétua. (Adriana Canabrava). Humiliated, she heads to São Paulo and, 25 years later, Tieta, now played by Betty Faria, reappears in Santana do Agreste rich, exuberant and determined to take revenge on the people who mistreated her. On the day of his arrival he says that he is here to stay and ends up changing the routine of all the inhabitants of the town.
Nostalgia and pride
Betty Faria, who conquered the public as the protagonist of the work, speaks with emotion about the role she held in the 90s “I am proud of what she represented. Tieta was very modern, today she is still revolutionary. She was a good person, full of love, she comes to the city to help improve the situation, always bringing new ideas and breaking down prejudices”, defines the actress.
She said she was extremely happy when she found out that the telenovela would be broadcast again. “I was very happy because it was a work that entered the hearts of the public and remained. It was a great success in my maturity as an actress, which brought me a lot of happiness, and a soap opera broadcast in many countries, always very well received”, remember.

Betty led a strong cast, along with names like Yoná Magalhães, Arlete Salles, Luciana Braga, Paulo Betti, José Mayer, Ary Fontoura, Armando Bógus, Mirian Pires, Lilia Cabral, Rosane Gofman and Bemvindo Sequeira, among others.
