Burnt Coconut Delight: Learn to make the traditional dessert

Burnt coconut delight

Time: 1h (+2h in the fridge)

Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (tea) sugar
  • 200 g of dried black plums
  • 1 glass of coconut milk (200 ml)
  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 200g freshly grated coconut
  • 5 tablespoons of corn starch
  • 1 cup (tea) water

Modpreparation:

  1. Bring the sugar, plums and water to the boil in a pan over a low heat.
  2. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until syrup is syrupy and plums are soft.
  3. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Place the manjar ingredients in a pan and cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
  5. Place in a 26cm diameter mold with a hole in the centre, moisten it and leave in the fridge for 2 hours.
  6. Unmold and serve with the reserved plum syrup.
