Do you suffer from constipation? This functional fruit can help you

Palmer mango can relieve the symptoms of constipation, as well as provide other benefits to the body

At least 40 million Brazilians suffer from constipation, according to a survey conducted by the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology. Pain, swelling and discomfort in the abdomen are some of the consequences of the condition. However, it is possible to reduce these symptoms. Thinking about improving the quality of life of these people, Renata Guirau, nutritionist at Oba Hortifruti, talks about the importance of including palmer mango in your diet.

Benefits of mango

Mango is very popular in Brazil. Furthermore, today it is also one of the most exported fruits. For those who suffer from constipation, this is a good option to add to your diet. “This is because mango helps the supply of fiber, which promotes the functioning of the intestine, making it work better. It also helps intestinal function, controls satiety, promotes immunity, improves skin and vision health, as well as be excellent for replenishing energy”, underlines the nutritionist.

But the benefits of the fruit don’t end there. Being a good source of potassium and magnesium, it also helps regulate blood pressure, muscle and bone health, replace salts lost through sweat and also helps prevent cramps. For those who suffer from constipation, the riper the mango, the better it will help relieve this symptom.

“Its consumption must be associated with good eating habits, in general. That is, contain a total consumption of approximately 500 g of vegetables per day. A medium mango can represent 200 to 300 g of this consumption,” explains the nutritionist.

There are no specific restrictions for the consumption of the fruit. However, the expert only recommends everyone to be careful about excesses, considering that mango contains a significant amount of carbohydrates. “And as for mixing milk with mango, we already know that it is a myth. So there is no problem in making a smoothie by mixing milk with mango or even in making a homemade popsicle with this combination,” underlines.
