Learn specific meditation styles for those with a busy mind

Have you ever said “I can’t meditate” because you can’t stay still, silent and focused? Don’t get frustrated. You can try the meditation for restless people. Also called active meditation, it is a type of practice where you don’t have to sit or lie down.
Meditation is not synonymous with relaxing, thinking about a very beautiful and peaceful place, nor thinking about anything. Meditation is being present in the moment.
How meditation works for restless people
Meditation for restless people can be done while on the go, doing any task such as walking or even washing dishes, as long as you are awareness.
It is a good option for those who have difficulty staying still or concentrating, and it has the same benefits as “conventional” guided meditation or passive meditation: it helps to reduce anxiety and stresscontrols emotions, increases the body’s defenses, among other benefits.
This is because the movements of the body and breathing eliminate the tensions and emotions accumulated in the mind, which allows for full relaxation.
Types of active meditation
Active meditation is performed through free movement and meditation techniques. I practice it in two ways: one is walking, the other is when I do it asanas (yoga positions).
Which is the best? It all depends on your goal with practice and also what works for you. Next, I share with you one of the meditation practices for restless people, which is walking. Try it!
Walking Meditation Tips
- Choose a hiking shoe
- Wear appropriate clothing for this exercise
- Don’t walk during the hottest part of the day
- Start by choosing a place, preferably in contact with nature, a park, a beach, a garden.
- If you have a lot of trouble concentrating or don’t want to go out, do it indoors.
Walk focusing on the path
- In this active meditation, you have to choose a path that could be done in 10 minutes of walking, but that you will do in 30 minutes.
- Mark a landmark / destination, fix it with your eyes and start walking very slowly, feeling every step.
- You have to pay attention to speed and keep your mind in the present moment.
In the following video, see how to do an active meditation with a focus on the path:
