Like racism in football compromises the mental health of the players

Discrimination generates hostility and violence that compromises the psychic well -being of the victims.

Recent cases of racism in football highlight the impacts that prejudice can have on the mental health of athletes. Last Sunday, during a game between Deportivo Fabril and Rayo Cantabria, for the fourth division of Spain, the Senegalese player alioune Mané was the target of racist insults by an opponent. The accident sparked an anxiety crisis in Mané, who had to be hospitalized after the accident.

Last week, Luighi, the 18 -year -old striker from Palmeiras, immediately raided the fans of the Cerro Porteño club during a game of Libertadores U20 in Paraguay. The player cried a lot on the bench and vented on social networks: “What they did was a crime”.

Another remarkable example is that of Vinícius Júnior, a Real Madrid striker, who was a recurring target of racist events in Spain. Vini Jr. highlighted the discussion on tolerance for racism in Spanish football.

Racism does not only influence the career and performance of the players, but also their mental health. Studies and research shows that the victims of racism can develop a series of symptoms that mainly damage their self -esteem, well -being and quality of life.

6. Social isolation – The fear of new experiences of discrimination can lead to a removal from social life, to the abandonment of work and the difficulties in creating emotional ties.

7. Repressed anger and emotional explosions – racism can generate frustration and helplessness, which can lead to emotional explosions or self -destructive behavior.

8. Substances abuse – some victims can resort to alcohol or drugs as a way to face racism.

Of course, the impacts of racisms are not limited to sportsmen. Discrimination generates hostility and violence that compromises the psychic well -being of the victims.

The environments that promote inclusion, diversity and prejudice actively fight are healthier. In the corporate context, the companies that adopt these policies perceive happier, safe, satisfied and involved employees.

In the same way, sports competitions and stages that implement effective measures against racism and other forms of discrimination offer a more positive experience for athletes and fans.

The racist insults, inside or outside the field, are unacceptable, inhuman and should not be tolerated. It is essential that clubs, athletes, associations and the population as a whole are firmly positioned against racism and will punish the culprits for the crimes committed. And racism is a crime yes, as the young Luighi pointed out and like the fantastic wine Jr. has reiterated in recent years

To advance as a company it is essential to promote education on diversity, implement zero tolerance policies to prejudice and support victims. Only then can we build a right world for everyone.
