The child died at dawn on Thursday.

In February, a six -year -old girl not vaccinated from the local Mennonita community was the first daughter who died of measles in the United States in a decade. In March, an unable man died in the state of New Mexico after contracting the virus, although the cause of death is still under investigation.

There were more cases of measles in the United States during the first three months of 2025 compared to 2024, according to the disease control and prevention center (CDC).

The Department of Health of the State of Texas and the Federal Health Department have not listed death in their counts on Friday.

In a statement, Kennedy confirmed the girl’s death.

“My intention was to come here discreetly to comfort families and be with the community in their moment of mourning,” said the secretary in the declaration.

He also claimed to be in contact with the local authorities to “support Texas health officials and learn how our agencies can make a better collaboration with them to control the measles epidemic”.

Kennedy said he was sending a team, as he did in March to help distribute vaccines, medicines and other supplies, among other support services.

“The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine,” Kennedy wrote.

Before being appointed by Trump to command health, Kennedy was remarkable for his critical position on vaccines and lead movements that question the regulation and safety of pharmaceutical products.

In 2007, RFK Jr. founded the organization for the defense of children’s health, an entity dedicated to the denunciation of what considers harmful practices in the pharmaceutical industry.

The NGO is considered by the scientific community as a dangerous source of disinformation of the vaccine.
