The expert in the field of accounting and the director of the company Vector Olga Tolkacheva explains how to spend financial calculations and find the ideal moment for a work break.
Scroll through your head, how are you going to rest at sea, explore new countries or just enjoy silence in the country? Russian companies often plan to vacation in advance – at the end of the previous year. But that does not mean at all that you will have to postpone your dreams on 2026. At any time, you can speak with the leadership of the postponement of the dates or the distribution of the remaining days. And here it is important to understand what months the holidays will bring you as many advantages as possible or in the form of additional days of rest.
Why does this happen that the holidays in different months are also different? The fact is that this is how vacation payments are calculated. The amount you will receive when leaving the holidays depends on two key factors – your average profit and the number of working days in a month. The more vacation and weekend there is a month, the higher the cost of a working day. This means that the trip in such a month will be “more expensive” for your wallet – you will rest, but you will get relatively less money.
If there are many days not working in a month, such as, for example, in May with its long vacation, then the working day becomes more expensive. Imagine that your salary is divided in less days in a month – it turns out to be a larger average daily gain. But at the same time, the holidays are accumulated on the basis of the number of working days that fall on vacation. You should always relax for free on vacation.

So, in what month of the second half of 2025, it is better to take a vacation if you want to get maximum payments?
July clearly takes first place in our ranking. This month, up to 23 working days and without vacation, which makes it ideal for those who want to obtain a maximum vacation salary. In addition, a high season for travel, hot weather and the possibility of relaxing in nature or at sea.
In other words, the holidays in July are an almost perfect relationship of services and pleasure. You get a full vacation salary and at the same time, you can take advantage of all summer delights. This is particularly true for those who provide expensive trips.
In October, there are also 23 working days and the lack of vacation, which placed it on a July stage at the size of the potential holiday remuneration. In addition, October is the time for the velvet season in many hot countries and reducing the prices of tourism services.
All this does October with a good time to travel. There are fewer tourists, prices are reduced and time in many directions remains comfortable. And what is particularly pleasant – your vacation salary will not suffer.

If you appreciate the duration of the holidays more than the size of the vacation remuneration, pay attention to the months with the holidays. Properly distributing vacation days around vacation dates, you can considerably increase the rest time. In the most vacation months, we will say now:
In November, the day of the national unit (November 4) is celebrated, and if you take a vacation adjacent to that date, you can considerably increase the rest period. For example, taking 5 days of vacation from November 5 to 9, 2025, taking into account the weekend, you will receive 9 days of continuous rest. Therefore, November is the ideal moment for those who want to take short vacation, but relax longer. In addition, it is an excellent opportunity to travel to hot countries, while it is already cold and cloudy in Russia.
In June, Russia day (June 12) is celebrated, and if you strategically distribute on vacation days on this date, you can also get a long weekend. At the same time, remember: since June 19, payments will be a little lower than those in July or August.
The situation where the lowest dates for the holidays are already busy is quite typical. But it’s not a reason to be upset! Here are some strategies that will help you get out of the situation:
Instead of taking the 28 days of vacation at a time, they divided them into several periods. For example, take 7 to 10 days in September and the same amount in December. You can therefore relax by financially profitable months and distribute vacation throughout the year. Drawing leave is an excellent strategy for those who quickly tire of long vacation or who want to remove their holidays at different seasons. In addition, it is easier to integrate into the calendar when many dates are already occupied.
If you have good reasons (for example, the need for treatment or family circumstances), you can contact leadership with a vacation transfer request for a more appropriate moment. The main thing is to do it in advance and with a good argument.

Between the high and low season, the difference in the cost of the visit can reach 30 to 50%. So, if your goal is to save, choose vacation months.
