Sus will distribute two new condoms models to stimulate the use of condoms; Know which they are

The purpose of the Ministry of Health is to make continuous and correct use more attractive for the population

The Unified Health System (Sus) has started to distribute two new models of condoms, as released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday 13. Now, in addition to the traditional model, Sus now offers structured and thin versions. The aim, with the measure, is to stimulate the continuous and correct use of condoms, which has recorded a drop in use in recent years, in particular among the youngest.

The new versions have a modern packaging and maintain the same effectiveness as previous models. Until then, the SU has offered two types of condoms: the exterior, made of latex and internal rubber, latex or nitrile.

The 400 million condoms should be distributed this year. The condisins can be obtained free of charge from basic health units. Access is issued, i.e. there are no restrictions of quantity and no identification is needed to collect condoms.

According to the Ministry of Health, the action is part of the combined prevention strategy, which associates different methods for expanding protection against HIV and other sexual transmission infections. “These include: use of condoms, lubricating gel, pre and post-exposure prophylaxies (prep and PEP), diagnosis and treatment of HIV and other ISTs, vaccination and actions to promote sexual and reproductive health”, underlines the ministry.

Fail in the use of condom

59% of people over the age of 18 say they do not use condoms indicate the National Health Survey (PNS), 2019. In this same survey, 22.8% of adults reported using condoms in all sexual relationships and another 17.1% said they had said sometimes.

“Sexual transmission infections (IST) are caused by viruses, bacteria or other microorganisms, mainly transmitted through sex without the use of condoms, if one of the partners is infected. The use of condoms throughout sex is the most effective method for protection against HIV and other Ist”, says the Ministry of Health.
