Amply cultivated in the North and North -East of Brazil, Jambo is a very appreciated fruit in the form of juices, desserts or fresh consumed. Although still uncomfortable in some regions of the country, it can bring several health benefits.
Jambo is mostly water, which makes it a refreshing and moisturizing food, especially on hot days. This feature helps to replace fluids in the body and contributes to the correct functioning of vital processes, such as circulation and body temperature regulation.
“Jambo is a tropical fruit rich in antioxidants (flavonoids and anthocyanins) and fiber, which suggests benefits for the health of antioxidant action”, says dr. Fabiano Robert, Nutrologist and teacher of the Brazilian Nutrology Association.
Observational studies suggest possible anti -inflammatory effects and improvements in metabolic markers, but there are no solid clinical studies that demonstrate this benefit.
“Your consumption within a balanced diet can enrich the intake of nutrients without replacing medical treatments and can be included as a nutritional complement in moderation within a food weight loss plan”, adds the expert.
The best form of consumption will depend on the lens and taste. “In nature (Raw), it is the form that preserves most of vitamin C and antioxidants. Just wash well and consume with the shell, which concentrates part of the fibers”, suggests the doctor.
