In Colgate-Palmolive he was ordered to pay $ 500,000 for collective moral damage, after a decision of the 11th private legal chamber of the Rio Court of Justice (TJ-RJ). The company was responsible for the misleading advertising in the spread of the “Colgate Total 12” toothpaste.

The public civil action was presented by the Consumer Protection Commission of the Rio Legislative Assembly (Alerj), which indicated the induction of consumer error. The product advertising promised “complete protection for 12 hours even after eating or drinking”.
