Covid vaccine: China approves first inhalation immunizer

China became the first country to approve an inhaled vaccine against Covid-19.

Manufactured by the Chinese company CanSino, the vaccine has similar ingredients to the injected version of the immunizer, using a harmless adenovirus as a carrier of the genetic code that teaches the body to fight the coronavirus.

According to the company, the Convidecia Air vaccine can provide good protection after just one breath.

There is other research around the world with nasal spray vaccines, such as in the UK and the US.

For scientists, this type of immunizer can provide additional protection in the lining of the nose and upper airways, where coronavirus normally begins to infect the body.

China’s National Medical Products Administration has granted CanSino approval to use its inhaled vaccine as a booster dose. Studies suggest that Convidecia Air may increase protection in those who have already received at least one dose of the injected vaccine.
