Luxury fashion website stirs controversy for charging R $ 531 for Havaianas flip flops

Twitter users commented on selling products 10 times more expensive than the original store

An online luxury fashion store made a stir on social media for charging R $ 531 for a pair of regular Havaianas flip flops. The value of the same sandals on the brand’s original website is R $ 47.99, that is 10 times less.

To the twitter, users immediately started a discussion on the subject, as the white colored model with the Brazilian flag is common and is usually also found at lower prices in other stores. With shipping included, the pair costs R $ 630 on the luxury website.

There are also models costing R $ 2,312 on the site, such as the “Mastermind Japan” as stated.

Users called it “absurd” and said that “nothing justifies” charging more than R $ 500 in the traditional model for flip flops.

A netizen tried to explain the reason for the price with a theory. According to her, the description of the product states that it is sent from another shop, which is based in Dubai, and that it would use the site only as a marketplace to sell its products.

This could mean that the Havaianas automatically entered the site at the price at which they are sold overseas, with the cost of importing included, according to the user of the twitter.
