Spices can help with digestion and menstrual cramps
Scientifically known as spearmint, Mint is a plant that has properties that help in the treatment of various digestive problems, such as indigestion, vomiting, nausea, bloating, reduced gas and acidity.
Additionally, it is also able to promote a calming and sedative effect, which help lower anxiety levels and improve mood and sleep quality.
“Mint tea has been widely used for medicinal purposes due to the substances in its composition such as menthol and limonene, which are anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, digestive, analgesic and decongestant,” says Iron Saúde Digital nutritionist, Francianny Marilia🇧🇷
Taking into account that the plant relaxes the muscles of the stomach and intestines, it can be considered an excellent ally for gas. Also recommended to relieve headaches and menstrual cramps.
According to studies, peppermint tea may be of interest in helping women with hormonal changes, as it balances female hormone levels and decreases androgen levels.
“It contains antibacterial properties that work against bacteria that can cause intestinal and respiratory infections,” she says.
However, the nutritionist warns that the spice is not suitable for pregnant women, children under five, people diagnosed with kidney problems and liver damage, severe reflux and hiatal hernia.
