The beginning of January brings another special day of celebrations after the Ceias marathon and, in it, the classic Torta del Re cannot be missing! In predominantly Catholic countries, Kings Day is celebrated on January 6th. The day represents the arrival of the three Magi, who, according to tradition, followed the Star of Bethlehem until they found the baby Jesus, born a few days ago, to give him gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Therefore, in honor of Gaspar, Melchior and Baltazar, there are different traditions that vary from country to country. For example, in Spain, Epiphany is celebrated more than Christmas itself! In Brazil, the most widespread traditions include the disassembly of the tree and the preservation of the Christmas decorations, as well as the famous Folia dos Reis, characterized by the procession of Catholics towards the Child Jesus.
Thus, to complete the celebrations, one detail cannot be missing: the King’s Cake! Traditional and delicious, this cake recipe is the perfect choice, even on ordinary days! To look:
