We already have scientific evidence that cannabidiol solves some problems of some rare syndromes and we must take this step ” , said Tarcisio.

He also said the law is a way to curb the volume of court requests to the state to pay for drugs.

“Our tenacity was worth it, because three months ago it seemed that the project would not even be approved in Alesp. I will follow it very closely so that the project can materialize, with the delivery of medicines,” França told the Stage. The day before, he had petitioned the governor with more than 40,000 people asking for approval of the project in the state.

The law provides that medicinal products with cannabidiol, known by the acronym CBD, will be distributed by the SUS only if previously registered with the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvis) and in the country of origin, with a scientifically proven beneficial effect. Patients must submit a medical report and medical prescription justifying their use, the period of treatment and proving the impossibility of purchasing them in the private system.

The undersecretary of health has a 30-day deadline to create a working group that will define the rules of the project, but the governor expects that in two weeks the members will already be defined. Specific rules on treatments will be made by the team, with the support of the file.
