Lionsgate plans to start filming its live-action Hollywood movie adaptation of the manga Naruto in the first half of 2027, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Production creators are currently conducting casting calls for the main roles in the project.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the manga adaptation. Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will make the Naruto movie his next project after Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Creative Team and Character Arc
Original manga creator Masashi Kishimoto said he was thrilled that his characters would appear in an upcoming Hollywood film. Cretton said he plans to show the emotional growth of Naruto from an outsider into a hero.
