Luma Costa confirms third pregnancy after Marina fallout

Actress Luma Costa has confirmed that she is pregnant with her third child, announcing the news on Monday following a public social media controversy.

The 38-year-old Brazilian performer shared the update on Monday afternoon, just hours after addressing a public fallout and mutual unfollowing on Instagram with her long-time friend, actress Marina Ruy Barbosa.

Costa made the announcement in a comment on a social media post by the celebrity gossip account Condominio Maria Fifi. The account reported that sources close to the actress had grown concerned about her involvement in the online controversy because she is already four months pregnant.

According to the gossip page, Costa had initially intended to announce the pregnancy at a later date with a special photograph. The publication explained that the news was already known among family and close friends, but noted that the dispute had escalated after Barbosa began liking comments online that encouraged speculation about a political disagreement between the two women.

Responding directly in the comments section, Costa reassured her fans, stating that she was carrying her newest child and that the information was not a secret. She remarked that she was surprised it had taken people so long to find out, promised that she would soon fill her profile feed with pictures of beautiful babies, and urged social media users to stop spreading hatred online.

Support from fans and family plans

Followers quickly rallied around the actress, who is widely known for her role in the 2007 television production Floribella. Several commentators noted that the rift between Costa and Barbosa was an older matter that had simply resurfaced at an awkward time.

Supporters left messages wishing Costa a peaceful pregnancy surrounded by love and tranquility, with some expressing hope that she would give birth to a girl. Other fans remarked that anyone who had known Costa since childhood understood that the friendship had ended some time ago, arguing that the controversy had come back to light at the wrong moment.

Costa has not yet released an official photo shoot or shared further details regarding the arrival of the baby, who is expected to be born during the first quarter of 2027.

The new baby will be the third child for Costa and her husband, businessman Leonardo Martins. The couple, who have been together for 17 years, already share two sons, Antonio and Eduardo.

Denial of political disagreement

The pregnancy announcement followed a weekend of intense internet speculation after fans noticed that Costa and Barbosa, 31, had unfollowed each other on Instagram. The two actresses had been close friends since childhood, making their mutual unfollowing an immediate topic of discussion across Brazilian social media.

Costa addressed the situation on Monday morning, confirming that a disagreement had occurred between them. However, she firmly rejected online rumours that their rift was caused by political differences, insisting that opposing political stances would never destroy a friendship.

Addressing Brazilian entertainment journalist Hugo Gloss, Costa stated that he was her friend and knew who she was, reiterating that she would never end a relationship over politics. She pointed out that her own sister, Lari, votes differently from her, emphasizing that their differing political choices have never affected the love and mutual respect between them.

The specific reason for the disagreement between the two former friends has not yet been disclosed to the public, and Barbosa has not commented publicly on Costa's remarks.

Careers in Brazilian television

Both Costa and Barbosa built successful careers in the Brazilian entertainment industry, having started as child and teenage performers before taking on major television roles.

Costa gained widespread recognition across Brazil for her early work in youth television, including the musical telenovela Floribella, before appearing in popular prime-time series and comedies on TV Globo. Alongside acting, she has expanded into business and lifestyle content, regularly sharing family updates with her followers.

Barbosa became a prominent television star through leading roles in major TV Globo telenovelas and has established herself as one of the country's most followed public figures and fashion entrepreneurs. The long-standing friendship between the two women had been followed closely by fans, who frequently saw them celebrate birthdays, holidays, and family milestones together.

With Costa preparing to welcome her third child in early 2027, public attention remains focused on whether either actress will share more information about the reasons behind their separation.
