Anton Danyluk explains wedding absence

However, one Love Island pal who was not at the wedding took to Instagram to say he decided not to attend as he was worried about drinking too much.

One of Tom and Molly's Love Island pal wasn't at the wedding. Anton Danyluk (pictured in sunglasses with the couple) took to Instagram to say he decided not to attend as he was worried about drinking too much

Anton Danyluk, who was pictured in sunglasses with the couple in earlier photos, has admitted to problematic drinking since rising to fame on the show and now prioritises his health and fitness.

In a post this weekend, which was slammed by Mitch and fans, Anton said he had been invited to the wedding at the start of the year and felt honoured.

He explained that he turned it down, saying it was not an easy decision because at the time he was invited he had just made the decision to stop drinking.

Anton added that he then went five months without alcohol before coming to the conclusion that the problem was not drinking but that he did not know when to stop.

Anton then explained: "Since then I drink on the odd social occasion. A few then I stop. Has it got out of hand once or twice? Yeah. But it's still a world away from where it used to be and I'm okay with that."

He added: "So looking back, if I knew then what I know now, I'd have gone. I'd have accepted that it's about the occasion, and about control. At the time I had to say no in order to learn that...."

He concluded his post: "Congratulations you two. I'm gutted I missed it but I couldn't be happier for you."

Mitch then commented under the post: "Give it a rest Anton pal, this is weird."

Other followers wrote: "Stop using other people for clout. Surely they should announce their own wedding first? Do you feel good that you got to be first? Wow."

Another follower asked, "You could have gone and not drank?" while another posted, "Do you ever have a day off mate."

Others, however, understood his point and saw his perspective, noting that his wellbeing had to come first. One follower commented: "Sometimes in life you have to put yourself 1st especially when it comes to your mental health and well being."

Another wrote: "Completely understand where you are coming from, sometimes you have to make to a difficult choice to then learn what's right for you, sounds like you did and you are stronger for it."

Travel chaos before the wedding

The weekend antics followed drama earlier in the weekend when best man Casey revealed he nearly missed his flight to the wedding in Mallorca after airline EasyJet overbooked the flight and he was initially denied entry.

Taking to his Instagram stories on Friday, Casey told how he had checked in at the airport only to be told the flight was sold out, forcing him to wait at the gate and hope that someone did not turn up.

Airlines often sell more tickets than there are seats as a commercial strategy to make more money, relying on passengers who either miss their flight or cancel at the last minute in order to keep the plane full.

Slamming EasyJet, Casey said: "How can I buy a flight that's sold out? I'm trying to keep calm but it's proving very difficult."

In another post, he shared a snap of his unimpressed face as he asked: "How can you oversell a flight it baffles me."
