Pedro Pascal, who played Mando in ‘The Mandalorian’, criticized an inconsistency in his character

Pedro Pascal and Diego Luna are among the Latinos who succeed in “Star Wars”, although in the case of the Chilean “The Mandalorian” series has become a big phenomenon and its third season reaches 2023.

“The Mandalorian” season 3 premieres March 1, 2023 on Disney+ and this time Mando/Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu/Baby Yoda will encounter a large number of Mandalorians.

Like Din Djarin and Boba Fett, all Mandalorians wear their signature beskar armor which gives them a great advantage on the battlefield. Although they are not really very practical or comfortable for the actors.

Pedro Pascal criticized his armor in ‘The Mandalorian’: ‘it’s ironic you can’t see’

The Latino actor currently appearing in ‘The Last of Us’ spoke to ‘Empire’ magazine on February 13, 2023 and confessed the difficulties he has wearing his suit.

Pascal said that as in the series the helmet protects Mando’s face, in real life it almost completely covers his face and prevents him from seeing his surroundings well.

“It’s like wearing a glove from head to toe with weights. It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expressions because it totally puts you in the world and immediately makes the character feel real, but you can’t see shit!”

Since Mando Season 1, he has improved his armor to show off the one he currently has, which is all silver. Likewise, the costume department has improved Pascal’s suit, but it’s still awkward.

“They keep refining it and making it more comfortable, but it’s like going blind. Your breath completely obscures the narrow opening you can see through. There is no peripheral vision. If there’s a hole, I’ll fall into it.”

Additionally, since Pascal rarely shows his face in the series, stuntmen Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder often film many scenes in place of the protagonist, which allowed Pedro to get some rest from the costume.

In an interview with Vulture on December 9, 2019, the stuntmen commented that for the scenes where they represent Pascal, there is a lot of communication between them to get Mando’s movements and gestures right.

“(Pascal) was asking me and I was asking him the same question: ‘Why did you move like that at that moment?’ We were going back and forth. The good thing about him is that he’s not impressed with himself. He’s just an actor. And the I mean in a good way, not a bad way. He likes to learn and collaborate and he’s very good at it,” Wayne said.

Despite these drawbacks, Pedro Pascal, who appeared in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and few remember, also told “Empire” that he likes wearing the armor because it makes him feel like he’s really in a galaxy very, very distant.

“When I wear it, I immediately feel strong, protected, dangerous and like a protector.”

The third season of “The Mandalorian” continues what we saw in “The Book of Boba Fett,” with Mando and Grogu going to the planet Mandalore to reclaim the honor of the Mandalorian from Din Djarin.
