Tomorrow is ours: “Between Bart and Adele, it’s not just a love story,” says Hector Langevin

Could a romantic future between Bart and Adele be tomorrow? This is the obvious question that all viewers of the TF1 series are asking themselves after Bart (Héctor Langev), still struggling to mourn Louise, begins an epistolary relationship with Adele (Eleanor Bouvier), a young woman who was also. He faced the brutal death of his companion.

In the episode of Tomorrow Belongs to Us this Thursday, February 16, Adele invites Bart to dinner to thank him for everything he’s done to find his motorcycle. And these two characters will spend the evening with Adele, in her artist’s lair, where the young woman confides her personal life to her new friend. And make him discover his works.

Hector Langevin, whose character has developed a lot over the past few months, spoke to us about the relationship between Bart and Adele and shared a few secrets about what’s in store for his character in the upcoming episodes. Let’s not forget to mention his reunion with Alexandra Naum a few days ago during the broadcast on TF1.

AlloCiné: A lot has happened for Bart in the past year, between Louis’ death and Roxanne’s pregnancy. How do you feel about this storm and the more mature evolution of your character?

Hector Langevin: The evolution of my character has been crazy over the past year. Demain’s authors and production gave me absolute confidence and I sincerely thank them. I’m excited about everything that’s happened to my character and I know there’s still great things to come.

Bart really grew up. He took the bottle and slowly brought it to the more grown-up. which will allow him to experience more mature situations than the ones he has been in before. Along with making a very interesting decision.

The writers could have rushed a new love story for him after Louise’s death, but they made sure to respect Bart’s grief. Is that something you discussed with the producer?

It was obvious to me. I was as hooked on the Bart-Louise relationship as the public that adored this love story. And when Nicolas Brossett became the director of the collection of the series, he understood this very quickly and immediately respected this love story.

For Bart, finding a new love story was not the main topic at all. He needed more than anyone to share the misery and loneliness he found himself in. Her best friends, Sara (Camille Genau) and Roxanne (Raphael Volkoff), were obviously there for that. They were indeed there with Bart. But she also needed someone in her position to help her develop and grow. And that’s where Adele came in.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve watched the budding relationship between Bart and Adele begin. Were you surprised to learn that your character was going to have an epistolary relationship with a stranger?

Surprised, yes and no. I was especially shocked by what was brought. Again, with Adele, the goal wasn’t to find Bart a new girlfriend. Rather, it was to bring him to a new situation in which he could convince and write this whole part of his life, which was very difficult.

Tomorrow belongs to us, life situations are often extrapolated. We have love stories very quickly, we heal very quickly. But here, instead, the writers decided to put both feet on the brakes and say, “No no, wait, this is not a trivial situation, we can’t just let Bart go with his little background and decide he’s going to crash. Love again”. They had a lot of respect for people who could face this situation in their daily life. It was very well done.

But still, since the beginning of Tomorrow belongs to us, we try to deal with many social issues properly, and I think we have proven ourselves in this. Whether it’s fatphobia or the LGBT community that is protected and highlighted, to do it as well as possible and to explain to the audience that these social issues exist and that they matter.

You and Eleanor Bouvier have a wonderful chemistry. You have known each other for many yearsI imagine that helped you bond on screen…

We were at Cours Florent with Eleanor. So when I heard she was going to play Adele, it was great. I made my first short film eight years ago. And the main actress of this short film was Aliénor. So the cycle is complete and we find ourselves today on this great project that is Tomorrow Belongs to Us. We are happy to work together because it is easy to work between us, we know each other, we can easily tell each other things. We are friends and that helps a lot.

How will things develop between Bart and Adele in the next episodes?

This relationship will be uncertain for a very long time. Bart’s mourning will not be done immediately. It’s going to be very difficult for Bart for a long time. But Adele will be there to support Bart, even if on the one hand she’s disappointed that he has a potential girlfriend.

Adele will then support her during the birth of Sarah and Roxanne’s baby. So it’s all going to be a bit ambiguous, and it will be for a long time, because as I speak to you, it still is. We are a little ahead of the broadcast and it is still a blur between them, because it is not so easy. This is not just a love story. These are two sad people who will try to help each other and stand up together.

Alexandra Naum recently reprized the role of Louis for a very charming sequence in a graveyard. Were you happy to find it?

I love working with Alexandra so much that it was obviously a pleasure to shoot this tiny scene with her. But I have a chance to see Alexandra regularly because she directs certain episodes of the series. I see him on set a lot as a director, but finding him again as an actor was great.

It’s a scene where Bart has his back to her, so it was kind of weird. But just to get her voice back, it was great. Other than that, the scene was very beautiful, very well written. So yes, we were happy to come across this beautiful scene.

Did Alexandra get a chance to direct you in the episodes that led to directing the series?

Yes, and it was very good. I think Alexandra is one of the people who knows me best on the set, along with Anne Cajon and Maude Becker, because we’ve talked a lot. So when he’s directing as a director, we talk very little because I know at a glance exactly what he wants me to do.

You mentioned Anne Caillon. Stay with him and with him Clement Remiens Despite their departure from the series?

Of course. I shared four years of my life with Anna, she was my fictional mother. And Clement is Bart’s cousin and best friend, and he ended up being the backbone of my very young career. We got together into this huge project that is Tomorrow Belongs to Us and started together on the same day. It creates a bond that is unbreakable.

So yes, we are still in touch, of course. Clement, I have occasion to see a little, and hear often from him. Anna, the same, I hear from him very often, and he gives me. These links exist forever.

A few words about your projects? Will you continue to dedicate yourself to the music of Tomorrow Belongs to Us?

Music is always in my life and very relevant. I released a single, “You Know”, with an artist called PRIAM. And I continue to focus on music projects, of course.

In fact, the time I don’t spend with Demin, which belongs to us, I spend in the recording studio to continue creating as much as possible. That’s the only way I can get something nice out of it one day. It’s a real pleasure, and our own production teams at Tomorrow allow me to have those two hats with ease, sometimes freeing up my time, so that’s great.
