This isn’t the first time Liam Neeson has been asked if he’d like to reprise his iconic role as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in a Star Wars spin-off. The answer is often no, and that was the case when he appeared alongside Paul Rudd on the Feb. 16 episode of Andy Cohen’s talk show, Watch What Happens Live!
But this time, as reported by Variety, Liam Neeson went further and explained his reasons: According to him, the franchise is destroying its own magic.
“No, I’m not“, he answered when asked if he was interested in returning. “There are so many Star Wars spin-offs. dilutes To me, and it strangely took away the mystery and magic.“
Liam Neeson also made a brief appearance in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi alongside Ewan McGregor, albeit with only a few lines of dialogue.
The actor made his Star Wars debut in 1999’s The Phantom Menace, but his character quickly faded away and his tenure was terminated. Last year, the actor told ComicBook.com that he would consider reprising his role on the condition that it be in a movie rather than a TV series, and his brief appearance as Obi-Wan Kenobi has not yet been announced.

“Oh, I guess so… if only it were a movie. Yeah, I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit. I just like the big screen. Qui-Gon, I can’t believe it’s been 24 years since we did The Phantom Menace, I can’t believe where the time has gone. It was a great experience shooting this film in London.“
The Star Wars universe is indeed now populated by spin-off films and series. On the big screen, Lucasfilm released Rogue One and Solo alongside the revival of its main saga. The franchise has also grown significantly on Disney+ with series such as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor. All these shows are currently available on the platform.
For sequels, The Mandalorian Season 3 will be released on March 1, and Ashoka and The Acolyte series should also see the light of day this year.
