The Hellboy franchise will be rebooted, yet again. The feature film starring the hero who is not part of Marvel or DC will begin its production next month, called Hellboy: The Crooked Man and will have the help of comics makers in the script of this new film adaptation.
Outside of the Marvel Universe and DC’s attempts to create one, there is a roster of good heroes among already and unexplored examples from film or TV. Hellboy is well known to the public and is part of his comic book world. He appeared in Guillermo del Toro productions and then recreated the franchise in 2019, a failure.

Now, according to the website expiration, a second reboot is in the works for Hellboy. Shooting will take place in Bulgaria and production is expected to start next month. We still don’t know who will do so much makeup for the character, but the direction will be in the hands of Brian Taylor.
Hellboy will introduce his creator
Taylor is known for such productions as Happy!, Adrenaline, Brave New World and also Crank. In other words: the director does not yet have his name in the big names of cinema or TV series as happened in the past with Hellboy, even if the Guillermo del Toro version is better suited to a cult cinema.
On the other hand, the confirmation of the second reboot comes with the guarantee of having Mike Mignola in the list of credits. He is responsible for the script of the adaptation and is the creator of the Hellboy comics.
The new film will feature Hellboy as a rookie employee at the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, living in 1950s rural Appalachia, Virginia. There he will find a group of witches and a demon who has a connection to his own history, which begins during the end of World War II.
We don’t yet know what the expected date for Hellboy: The Crooked Man is in theaters, but it should be in a few years.
The post Hellboy will get a new adaptation for the cinema, for the second time it appeared before in Olhar Digital.
