Unveiled by the tricolor of Rio de Janeiro, the player left Brazil after just two seasons. Since then he has won five Champions Leagues with Real Madrid and had a brief spell at Olympiakos in Greece.
Marcelo had his contract with Olympiakos terminated last week and was free on the transfer market. After a short negotiation, Fluminense announced the player as the new reinforcement for Fernando Diniz’s team this season, in which the club will compete in the Libertadores.

The official announcement was made through Fluminense’s social networks, exactly at noon on Thursday. Without anticipating it, the club has published a photo of the player in this season’s shirt; in the background the images of his career at Real Madrid and his debut in the tricolor youth team.
Over the last decade, Marcelo has been in discussion among the major names in world football. For Real Madrid, in addition to winning five Champions Leagues, the left-back has 25 titles, including the Spanish league, the Copa del Rey and the Club World Cup. In the 2021/2022 season he became the first Brazilian to lift the European Cup as captain.
