Zombie quiz: 11 photos, 11 undead, find the right movie!

Nights of the Living Dead, George A. Romero’s masterpiece hits theaters on February 22 in a restored 4K version. To mark the occasion, I’d like to offer you a little quiz on big (and small) screen zombies without being bitten by the beetles!

The story tells about Barbara and John. Every year they put flowers on their father’s grave. The road is long, the surroundings of the cemetery are deserted. Prayer-prone John remembers the time when he was a child, and as he amused himself by scaring his sister, he repeated in a deep voice, “They’re coming to get you, Barbara.”

Night is coming. Suddenly a strange man appears. He approaches Barbara, then attacks Johnny, who falls and is left for dead. Frightened Barbara runs away and hides in the country house. He finds Ben there with the other escapees. After that, the radio tells them a terrible story: the dead are attacking the living.

George A. Romero and his college friends always wanted to make a feature film. Unfortunately, the steps taken with financiers turned out to be disastrous.

So they decide to establish their own production company together: Image Ten, financed with their own funds. Each shareholder agrees to return $600 to the company. Then the capital obtained is doubled by selling it to third parties at a high price.

If Romero is now a master of horror cinema, he was not particularly fond of the genre when he began filming Night of the Living Dead. If the director and his friends decide to turn to this genre for their first feature film, it is primarily in the hope that the invested capital will be profitable.

Indeed, at a time when television caused a decline in cinema attendance, the first priority was to ensure that the film was profitable and remained a quality work, as one of the film’s producers confirmed. Russell Streiner:

“Obviously, we would have preferred to make a great dramatic film. But once we moved on to a horror film, we tried to make it as realistic as possible with the budget we had.”. The film’s success subsequently began with George A. Romero’s career, which continues to be terrifying.
