Xiaomi’s new AR glasses have gesture controls, which help interact with virtual windows and games
During MWC 2023, the Xiaomi presented a concept that reveals what the company’s bets on the AR device market should look like. Wireless AR glasses offer screens with a high degree of realism and support for gesture control, among other features.

One of the product’s biggest appeals is its ability to wirelessly connect to PCs or smartphones, while maintaining high performance and 50ms latency. To do this, it uses technology from Xiaomi, which includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth solutions.
With this you can interact with windows to open programs or games more smoothly. This is where the gestural controls become more useful: with a pinching motion, the user can move elements according to what he finds most relevant, for example.
Showing the palm forward, a laser beam extends to the surface of the windows. It can be used as a mouse pointer, which completes the virtual desktop experience.

When you open a glasses-compatible game, you can use gestures to aim and shoot. The device also supports use with smart home devices via the Xiaomi Home UI, where a virtual switch can be turned on or off to control, for example, a light bulb.
Xiaomi wireless AR glasses have a realistic screen and a light structure

The internal screens of the glasses carry “retina-level” technology, with Micro OLED and tri-surface prisms to guide the internal light. This panel still has 57 PPD (pixels per degree) and a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits.
The electrochromic lenses present in the glasses allow them to be used outdoors without major problems. This technology is able to dim the display without the need for physical coverings, for when it’s time to watch a movie or other activity that doesn’t require interaction with the real world.
Its performance suite includes a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 processor from Qualcommbut the lack of a storage system prevents the glasses from working independently, so it must always be paired.

In addition, the structure of the Xiaomi Wireless AR glasses is made of a magnesium-lithium alloy together with carbon fiber. Its silicon-oxygen anode battery also cuts weight: at 126 grams, it should maintain comfort even after long hours of use.
Since the glasses are only a concept, there are no sales forecasts for the general public. However, it does indicate that Xiaomi may introduce an AR/VR option in the coming months or years.
