Among young people aged between 15 and 29, suicide is the fourth leading cause of death, behind only road accidents, tuberculosis and interpersonal violence.
Suicide is a serious public health problem with irreversible impacts on society. According to the data of World Health Organization – WHO, more people die each year from suicide than from HIV, malaria or breast cancer, or from war and murder.
In Brazil there are about 14,000 cases a year, or an average of 38 a day. Among young people aged 15 to 29, it is the fourth cause of death, behind only road accidents, tuberculosis and interpersonal violence.
According to the latest survey conducted by the World Health Organization – WHO in 2019, there are more than 700 thousand suicides in the world, not counting the underreported episodes, as more than one million cases are estimated with this.
Hypnotherapist Alexandre Campos calls attention to behaviors that can be a warning sign, such as: isolation, changes in diet and sleep, self-mutilation, self-depreciation, disruption of programs and abandonment of study and work. Hypnotherapy can be another treatment option for those suffering from these symptoms and has become an ally for those seeking mental health.
Hypnotherapy consists of applying hypnotic techniques as therapeutic tools and must allow access to the subconscious, where emotions, feelings, habits and long-term memories are found that we cannot control on a conscious level.
Research conducted by the American psychologist Alfred Barrios in the 1970s he collected data on the efficiency and agility of three types of therapies used today.
According to the study, psychoanalysis achieved a 38% success rate in recovering patients after 600 sessions over 11.5 years.
Behavioral Psychology, on the other hand, had a 72% success rate in recovering patients after 22 sessions six months.
In turn, hypnotherapy was 93% successful in recovering patients after six sessions in a month and a half.
Hypnotherapy is currently recognized by the Federal Council for Psychology, the Federal Council for Dentistry, the Federal Council for Medicine and the Federal Council for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Furthermore, it is also accepted as an integrative practice in the SUS.
Alexandre Campos explains that a potential suicide does not always live sadly and that it is necessary to be attentive to notice the danger signs.
“When you notice any of these warning signs, such as depression, self-mutilation and suicidal ideation, don’t hesitate to ask for help,” concludes the hypnotherapist.
