Robert Lewandowski is out of the Barcelona squad with a hamstring injury, the Spanish club, which is expected to keep the Polish striker out of the Copa del Rey match against Real Madrid this week, said on Monday.
Lewandowski, who is the club’s top scorer this season with 25 goals in all competitions, played the full 90 minutes in the LaLiga leaders’ 1-0 defeat by Almeria on Sunday, as well as last week’s defeat by Manchester United in the Liga Europa.
Barcelona have not given a possible return date for the 34-year-old striker. The club will face Real on Thursday in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
“Robert Lewandowski has pulled a hamstring in his left thigh. The Polish forward is not available until the problem is resolved,” Barcelona said in a statement.
“He’s out and his recovery will determine his availability.”
