A year after Ghostface returned to Woodsboro, Gail (Courteney Cox), Sam (Melissa Barrera), Tara (Jenna Ortega) and their friends are once again targeted by the masked killer. But this time things are about to change… Ghostface has indeed followed the gang to New York. A much bigger field for it serial killer.
Like the previous opus, Scream VI is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpini and Tyler Gillette. If for Scream 5 the duo took the codes of the previous films of the franchise, this new part is much more disgusting if the words of the main actors are to be believed.
Last December, Melissa Barrera, Sam Carpenter’s interpreter in the new films, said variety :”With the latest Scream, Matt and Tyler have limited themselves and tried to honor what the franchise has been up to. But with this movie, they were like, “We’ll do anything.” It’s potentially 100 times more landslides.”
On the other hand, Jenna Ortega, who plays her sister Tara, said before filming: “I think this is probably the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface we’ve ever seen, which I think will be really fun to shoot..”
Screaming 6
Scream 5 was already the most violent film in the franchise since Ghostface inflicted an average of 6.3 wounds on its victims, 2.4 for the first part, 3.66 for Scream 2, 1.66 for the third opus and 3 wounds for Scream 4.
Where is Scream VI in the saga?
The CNC Classification Committee has just issued its verdict: Scream VI is prohibited for children under 12. Therefore, the feature film should be less violent than the previous opus, despite the claims of the actors.
It is the fourth feature film in the saga to win this ban, following Scream 2, 3 and 4. Only Wes Craven’s first Scream, released in 1997, and Scream 5, released in January 2022, are restricted to under-16s.

Screaming 6
As shown in the trailer, the white masked killer uses a pistol in this movie. This is the first time in the saga that Ghostface uses a firearm. His weapon of choice was a 20cm hunting knife.
In fact, gun murders can be done from a distance, unlike knife murders, and may be less shocking graphically, which may explain why the film is only restricted to children under the age of 12.
Led by Courteney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmine Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Hayden Panettiere, Dermot Mulroney, Tony Revolori and Samara Weaving, Scream VI promises to change the rules of the game and change the cards. In a city like New York, anything is possible, and it seems that Ghostface is not intimidated by the crowd, on the contrary…
Scream VI hits our theaters this Wednesday, March 8th.
