Östlund rose to prominence in 2014 for the release of the film major force, which garnered BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations in the Non-English Language Film categories. It was also in this category that, in 2018, he received his first Oscar nomination, for drama The Square: The Art of Discord.

Now he returns to the awards with his first English-language film, which received critical acclaim and won awards at the Cannes Film Festival, including the festival’s prestigious Palme d’Or, both for Triangle of sadnesshow much for The square. Now, it’s been nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

Of the list, no one dispenses more introductions than Steven Spielberg, one of the most awarded, acclaimed, influential and popular directors in the history of cinema. Back to the awards show with the film The Fabelmansa semi-autobiographical drama that received seven more nominations, including in the Best Picture category.

The director has won twice in the Best Director category, for Schindler’s List AND Save Private Ryanin addition to the award for best film, also for Schindler’s Listand several nominations throughout his career filled with films that have enjoyed success with audiences.
