Brooke was 20 when she was abused, at the time a recent graduate of Princeton University trying to find a job opportunity. “I’m angrier now than when it happened. These are scary situations,” said the star. “It was the nadir of my career” remembered.

The traumatic episode occurred after a dinner with a Hollywood executive, when he asked the actress to call a cab from her hotel room. “I thought I was getting a movie, a job. I didn’t fight it. I just stalled.” Shields says he spent a lot of time blaming himself for the abuse. “I kept telling myself, ‘I shouldn’t have done that. Why did I go upstairs with him? I shouldn’t have had a drink with dinner.'”

When the crime happened, Brooke told only one person: Gavin de Beckerhis close friend and former security consultant. “Brooke has lived so long under the judgment of others that it was painful to see her judge herself” he recalled.

The story is shared in their new documentary, “Brooke Shields: Pretty Baby”, which arrives on Hulu to stream on April 3. Divided into two parts, the production promises to detail the life and career of the 57-year-old actress. “Doing the documentary, you see it all together, and it’s a miracle I survived,” says Brooke.
