The director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, James Gunn, revealed to a fan on Twitter the approximate length of the last film in the trilogy. The time, which places the production as the longest compared to the previous ones – and among the largest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – had already been unveiled by the site Atom Tickets (ticket sales), with the director who now confirms: Volume 3 will last 2 hours and 29 minutes.
“There is more or less that time, although it is not yet exact. And, I promise, not a second is wasted. There is no wasted time. A [longa] Length is needed to develop the full arc of every major Guardians character, not just for this film, but for the trilogy,” he wrote.
In another tweet, Gunn clarified that, for now, time counts on the credits, so the mention isn’t accurate.
For comparison, the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014) lasts a total of 2 hours and 2 minutes, while “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017) lasts 2 hours and 17 minutes. According to the official synopsis of vol. 3, the film will focus on Rocket’s (Bradley Cooper) “turbulent past.” Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), still reeling from the loss of Gamora (Zoë Saldaña), will have to assemble his team in a dangerous mission to save the life of the raccoon character – a mission which, if failed, could lead to an end for the Guardians as we know them.”
The central cast returns for the third and final part of the film with Chris Pratt (Pete Quill/Star-Lord), Zoe Saldaña (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Pom Klementieff (Mantis) , Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin).
Also in attendance will be Sylvester Stallone (Stakar Ogord), Elizabeth Debicki (Ayesha), Maria Bakalova (Superpowered Space Dog), Will Poulter (Adam Warlock), Chukwudi Iwuji (High Evolutionary villain) and Daniela Melchior, whose character is yet to be revealed.
