The end of the first season may seem quite definitive, but there are rumors that it could point to a continuation. This is all we know!
If you too have fallen in love with Daisy Jones and The Six, I’m sure ten episodes have been hard for you and now you’re wondering: Could there be a Season 2 of ‘Everybody Loves Daisy Jones’ on Amazon Prime Video? Or will the small screen story end in the same place as the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel on which it is based?
The series follows a group of artists whose paths meet to form a successful music band in the 70s, although its success is accompanied by internal rivalries and love dramas. Their story, especially that of the band’s leaders (played by Riley Keough and Sam Claflin), is inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s Steve Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
Towards the end of the Prime Video series, the tale comes full circle revealing why the 1977 Chicago concert was the last for the band, despite being at the height of their fame. In the present, an expected reconciliation seems to put a perfect tie for the final end of the story. But, beware, it might not be all said.

The showrunners Scott Neustadter and Will Graham were quite open to continuing the series. “I think it would be amazing. If people are interested in this story and these people, maybe we have a chance to do it. Leave the door open,” Neustadter told Variety in February 2023. Graham added: “We had a great time making this series. For me, that question would have to be answered by Taylor and does she have another chapter for these characters in her head. If we were given the chance to do it, I think there’s no doubt that everyone involved in the series would join us”.
So will there be season 2 of ‘Everybody Loves Daisy Jones’?
Waiting for an official confirmation in positive or negative, it seems pretty unlikely that ‘Everybody Loves Daisy Jones’ will get a second season. Although the showrunners are very open to this supposed continuation, there are several reasons that work against them. The most obvious: there is only one published book on Daisy Jones and The Six, meaning no more material to adapt. If they go ahead, they would have to open new unknown territories for readers, something that is as exciting as it is complicated. Also, it is entirely up to its author, Taylor Jenkins Reid.
On the other hand, the series has not been the overwhelming success that Prime Video perhaps expected. That does not mean that it has gone unnoticed, far from it: Daisy Jones’ band in fiction has broken musical records beyond the series thanks to their music, which is certainly amazing. The band’s single, ‘Look At Us Now (Honeycomb)’, has done very well with the public. In fact, Prime Video is even considering organizing a tour with the fictional band, played by its leading actors. Whether that idea will come to fruition or not will have to be seen. These are good signs of the reception of the series, but even so we cannot describe it as a mass phenomenon and much of this information may be more part of commercial strategies.
Finally, It’s unlikely we’ll see a season 2 of ‘Everybody Loves Daisy Jones’ because the end that we have seen does not ask for a continuation. Without incurring spoilers, we can say that the final episode explains why the band never got back together after the fateful concert in Chicago, so there is absolutely no room for a future for the band. On the other hand, in the present, we discover what has become of each of the members, professionally and personally, and the series ends with a tone of hope, compassion and reconciliation. It’s a good ending.
The only way to continue the series would be either by exploring the memories before the breakup of the band in more depth, or by staying in the present with the middle-aged versions of the characters. Any of those options would seem forced, especially the second one if we have to keep seeing good old Sam Claflin in that horrible wig.. Who knows, maybe Prime Video and the showrunners of the series manage to find a way to resurrect the story and recapture its magic. Perhaps the author of the book is encouraged to write a sequel to the script for a possible second season. At the moment, everything is speculation.
