In 2019, we met the cinematic Shazam, a superhero played by Zachary Levy who doesn’t possess music, as his name implies, but other pretty cool powers. Behind his well-tailored suit is actually a 14-year-old kid. Billy Batson has the ability to act like an adult by uttering this famous line.
To understand its meaning, we have to wait for the scene of his meeting with the magician in the first part. The latter chooses to make him his champion, granting him the powers of his now-disappeared brothers and sisters. Asking him to touch his magic staff, he thus offers him the powers of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury. which gives rise to the acronym SHAZAM.
And remember all these names well, because they will have their meaning in Shazam – Wrath of the Gods. In this second opus, still written by David F. Directed by Sandberg, Billy (Asher Angel) and his family must meet three goddesses from another world: Hespera (Helen Mirren), Calypso (Lucy Liu) and Anthea (Rachel Zeigler). They’re going to take back what’s rightfully theirs (and take over Earth in the process!).
