Servio is counting on Alcaraz’s failure at the Miami Masters to return to number 1 in the world
Tennis player Novak Djokovic is back at the top of the standings, in a new table released this Sunday evening by the ATP. The Serbian did not defend any points in the Masters 1000 in Miami and kept his 7,160 points, while the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, discarded the 1000 points of the 2022 tournament title, has only added 360 in the current edition and dropped to 6780. The Spaniard , who was eliminated in the semifinals by Jack Sinner, spent just two weeks at the top, in his second stint at the top.
This is Djokovic’s eighth time at the top of the league table. At age 35, Novak is 381 weeks ahead, a tennis world record. He was unable to attend the Miami Masters due to US restrictions on those who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.
In third place the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, now followed by the Russian Daniil Medvedev, who has reached 5150 points. Norway’s Casper Ruud dropped to fifth and is now followed by Russia’s Andrey Rublev. Canadian Felix Aliassime dropped one place to seventh; the eighth is the Danish Holger Rune, stable.
Vice in Miami, Jannik Sinner moved up two positions and is ninth. American Taylor Fritz is tenth. Semi-finalist, Russian Karen Khachanov moved up five places to eleventh. Rafael Nadal, who has been absent from the courts since January, dropped another position and dropped to 14th place.
