The winger was replaced in the second half with an ankle injury.
Right-back Mayke left the Hernando Siles stadium limping after Palmeiras lost 3-1 to Bolívar in their opening match of the liberators. The cause was an ankle injury, the result of a dispute with the ball during the match. The player will be re-evaluated upon arrival in Brazil where the type and severity of the injury will be verified.
Thanks to Abel Ferreira’s full backup line-up, Mayke started the game in his original position. In an attack from right end, the player was tackled hard by a defender Bolívar and sprained his ankle. After medical treatment, he was replaced around 5pm in the second half.
If a more serious injury is found, Mayke joins Piquerez (knee sprain), Atuesta (knee anterior cruciate ligament tear) and Bruno Tabata (muscle injury) in Verdão’s medical ward.
With or without Mayke, the palms returns to the field next Sunday (09) for the dispute of the second final of Paulistan, at 16:00 (Brasilia time) at the Allianz Parque. To win the cup, Abel Ferreira’s side must beat Água Santa by at least two goals.
