Multiverses are all the rage right now. While the MCU is in the midst of its multiverse saga, the universe jumps All everywhere at once recently swept the Oscars, and the DC Universe is about to explore all kinds of alternate realities the flash this summer (after delivering a small-screen version of “Crisis On Infinite Earths”). But while the general idea of the Multiverse is that Nothing It’s possible, it tends to come with caveats: it’s rare for separate multiverses to collide.
But, if comic book fans are dreaming of a next-level crossover, with Marvel’s Avengers and a variety of heroes crossing over with DC Comics’ legendary Justice League roster, there’s one man who could make it happen: James Gunn. For a decade he’s been deeply rooted in the MCU, and once guardians of the galaxy vol. 3 hits theaters, it will relocate to Washington to manage its film operations. Could this be the key to Marvel and DC sharing their biggest toys on the big screen? “I’m sure it’s more likely now that I’m in charge. [at DC],” he said Empirein the new Guardians vol. 3 deal. “Who knows?” Don’t expect anything on this front in the immediate future. “However, it will take many years,” she says. “I think we have to establish what we are doing [at DC] First. And while not all members of The Guardians are expected to reach the end credits of flight. 3, Gunn isn’t averse to appearing in future projects once their Marvel days are behind them. “It wouldn’t be completely unfair of him to continue in the Marvel Universe,” he says. “I’d like to see the remaining characters [at the end of the film] get solo movies, or join the Avengers, or a new version of Guardians or whatever. Now… how about Drax throwing Zarg nuts at Batman? We’ll file it under “Probably not, but never say never…”
