Demon Slayer: Head to the Blacksmith Village!
After a great first season in 2019, Demon Slayer has quickly established itself in the hearts of anime series. Let them rejoice: Tanjiro, Nezuko and their friends will return to Crunchyroll on April 9 to continue their quest. For those who missed this anime event, here is a recap.
After his father’s death, young Tanjiro does his best to meet the family’s needs. If their life is not easy, they manage to find a little happiness together in everyday life. Happiness that will unfortunately disappear…
One day, while returning from work, Tanjiro realizes that his family has been killed. The only survivor, his little sister Nezuko, has become a demon who, to his surprise, still shows signs of human emotions and thoughts. Instead of killing him, he decides to find a cure for the evil that is consuming him. Willing to do anything, he joins the Demon Slayers in hopes of finding answers.
After two seasons full of action and twists, Tanjiro and his sister finally manage to make a name for themselves among the demon slayers. Participating in two particularly dangerous missions involving the route of a cursed train and solving a mysterious disappearance in Tokyo’s pleasure district, the young hero is now considered one of the best assets in the fight against demons.
But it’s time for him to hit the road again for adventures that promise to be more dangerous than ever… As the third season of Demon Slayer is about to begin, here are the characters at the heart of these new episodes. .
Tanjiro Kamado, the symbol of the demon slayer
Tanjiro’s only hope of saving his sister lies in destroying the master and creator of monsters, Muzan, whom he has sworn to kill with his sword.
But in the duel against Daki and Gyutaro, this knife, which accompanies him in all battles, was bruised. Before the road is restored, it is necessary to go to the blacksmith village to repair it. However, Tanjiro has no idea that he is now being targeted by mortal enemies…
Both endearing and inspiring, this brave hero is voiced by lead actor Natsuki Hanae (Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul, Falco from Attack on Titan, Love D. from Grey-Man).
Nezuko Kamado, the demon child
Nezuko is the sole survivor of Muzani’s attack on the Kamado family. A quiet and shy child, after this event he suffered from a terrible illness: demon blood flows through his veins. In addition to a new weakness and terrible impulses of violence, he gains superhuman strength and strange powers during his transformations.
The demon slayers would rather see Nezuko dead, but his brother will do anything to prove to them that he is an effective weapon against their enemies.
Muichiro Tokito, Pillar of Mist
Among the demon slayers, the nine swords stand out for their unparalleled skill: they are the pillars. Strength, agility, instinct or tactics… the pillars shine in each of these areas and are feared by the most powerful demons.
Anime viewers may remember Tomioka the Water Pillar, Rengoku the Flame Pillar, and Tengen the Sound Pillar. If he made a brief appearance in the first season, now it’s the turn of the Pillar of Mist, Muichiro Tokito, to join Tanjiro in his fight against the demons.
While it may seem like an air raid, Muichiro is actually a great strategist who never lets his emotions get the better of him. Fast and agile, he is the most effective warrior and tries to finish his battles as quickly as possible.
Already heard in Chainsaw Man as Kurose, his Japanese voice actor is Kengo Kawashin, as well as Genre’s translator in Dr. Stone.
Mitsuri Kanroji, Pillar of Love
Muichiro is not the only pillar to fight for Tanjiro in the new season. Despite his obvious playfulness and childlike qualities, Mitsuri is one of the most dangerous pillars. Deeply invested in his work, he puts his mission first, or almost… as it is with his beloved Obanai, the Serpent Pillar, that he spends the most time with.
Genia Shinazugawa, a new recruit
Despite the same age and rank, Tanjiro is far from finding a friend in Genia. Unpleasant and ferocious, this lone wolf is the Wind Column’s little brother, the strange Sanem. Determined to avenge the demon attack on his family, he has only one goal: to become stronger and destroy as many demons as possible.
What reasons could lead him to the blacksmith village, at the same time to Tanjiro? His voice actor, Nobuhiko Okamoto, is well known to anime fans as the voice of the very popular Bakugo (My Hero Academia).
Hotaru Haganezuka, the greatest blacksmith
It is impossible to forget Hotaru’s characteristic mask. This blacksmith, who has already appeared several times in the series, is known throughout the country for his exceptional work on swords. His obsession? A knife poorly maintained by its wielder! How will he react when he sees the damaged Tanjiro sword again?
Gyoko, fifth upper moon
In the Demon King Muzan’s army, there are twelve creatures of insane power: the Moons. Divided into two categories, lower and upper moons, they strike fear into humans and rival the most legendary assassins.
After Rui, Enmu, Gyutaro and Daki, the audience will learn to fear Gyoko, the fifth Upper Moon. If his strange appearance isn’t enough to scare you, wait until you discover his powers! Hantengu, the fourth upper moon
Tasked by Muzan to capture Tanjiro and his sister, Hantengu accompanies Gyoko to the blacksmith village. If its curves and sloping silhouette reflect its cowardice, this demon is well deserving of the title of the Fourth Upper Moon. The nature of his mysterious powers seems to be the key to his extreme danger.
