Rumors were heard. Rather they were a preview of what was going to be announced sooner or later. The TV series based on the Harry Potter books is now official. The announcement was made during the Warner Bros. Discovery presentation in which the merger of HBO Max and Discovery + into a new service simply called Max.
The news that the saga of books written by JK Rowling leaked last week. However, the details have now been made public. Each season of the show will be based on one of the franchise’s books.with Warner Bros. Discovery describing the project as a “series of a decade”, and that it will feature an entirely new cast from the films (who knows if there are any cameos from the past cast).
“We are delighted to give the public the chance to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way.”said Casey Bloys, president and CEO of HBO & Max Content. “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it’s clear there’s such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In association with Warner Bros. Television and JK Rowling, this new series from Original Max will delve into each of the books that fans have continued to enjoy all these years”.
Max will produce in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. Rowling will also executive produce. “Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I look forward to being a part of this new adaptation. that will allow for a degree of depth and detail that only a long-form television series offers,” said the author of the Harry Potter Universe. The announcement ends years of speculation about whether or not the Wizarding World of Harry Potter would make the transition to television..
The franchise, whose first book came out in 1997 and its last in 2007, has proven incredibly popular across a wide range of media. The novels were a bestseller and to date there have been eight Harry Potter films, which together have grossed more than $7.7 billion at the worldwide box officehe. It also spawned the well-known ‘Fantastic Beasts’ film franchise, theme parks, toys and games, including the recently released ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ video game. There is also the hit stage play ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, which serves as a continuation of the book series.
At the moment, the only incentive that fans have is with the teaser that has been released during the Max launch event.
