SpaceX has released an animation showing the launch of the Starship rocket. After an in-orbit refueling stop, the vehicle continues on to the Red Planet
Can you imagine what it would be like to see the Starship rocket take off from a platform on Earth and follow it destination on Mars? Well, that’s what the SpaceX features in a video released on Monday (10), which brings an animation of the spacecraft on its way to the Red Planet.

- Starship and Super Heavy are assembled before the first test flight
The animation is called “Starship Mission to Mars” (“Starship Mission to Mars”, in loose translation), and begins with the rocket at the company’s facilities in Starbase, Texas. After launch, the Super Heavy booster returns to the ground, while the Starship rocket meet a resupply vehicle in Earth orbit and head for Mars.
The rocket arrives on the planet accompanied by three other spacecraft which, together, leave light trails in the sky. Upon landing, the spaceship’s hatch opens to reveal four crew members in astronaut suits, who descend to a habitat on the surface of Mars.
The video represents one of the main objectives behind the development of the Starship rocket, namely to bring humans to Mars and thus begin the colonization of the planet. But, for now, the prototypes of the vehicle developed by SpaceX have reached, at most, a few kilometers high.
Soon, the Super Heavy and Starship prototypes will be able to fly in one orbital flight test. The company plans to have it done by the end of the month, and if successful, SpaceX will be closer to launching Starship on missions to distant destinations.
