Now 21, young actress Madison De La Garza was just 6 years old when she started playing Eva Longoria’s daughter on Desperate Housewives in Season 5.
More than 10 years after the famous series ended, guest on the podcast Heart Of Mater By Elizabeth Vargas, the actress talked about her memories of filming, in particular, confiding that her experience was severely marred by abuse and cyberbullying from certain fans, which she suffered from the age of 6.
“They said they wanted to see me dead because of the way I looked.”she said.
“It was really scary, it was messages like ‘scary fat cow’ or ‘I hope you get cancer and die because you’re so fat’. It was scary, scary, scary stuff and I was only 6, 7 at the time Or 8 years old. Reading comments like this really affected my mental health and ultimately played a role in me developing an eating disorder at a very young age.”
Still at Elizabeth Vargas’ microphone, Madison De La Garza explained that Eva Longoria, who played her on-screen mother, was kind to her and complimented her. The young actress specifies that she has been recovering from an eating disorder for two years.
