George Perris has been selected to represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027, the nation's public broadcaster has announced.

The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, known as CyBC, confirmed the choice following a structured selection process involving specialist evaluation committees from Cyprus and abroad.
While the international vocalist has secured his ticket to the competition, the entry song he will perform on stage has not yet been chosen.
Open call and televised song selection
CyBC has opened a public submission window inviting songwriters, lyricists, and composers from Cyprus and other countries to present prospective entries. Creators have until Sunday, 13 December 2026, at 23:59 Cyprus time to submit their musical proposals to the broadcaster.
Submissions that pass through the preliminary assessment phase will be showcased during a special live televised programme, where the definitive song will be selected for the contest.
The final choice will be decided by an equal split between television viewers and an expert panel, combining 50 percent of the public televote with 50 percent from a specialist committee. CyBC aims to improve Cyprus's competitive fortunes at Eurovision 2027 by pairing an experienced international singer with a song backed by both public enthusiasm and professional guidance.
International career across four languages
Perris was born in Athens in August 1983 to a Greek father and a French mother. He performs fluently across several linguistic markets, singing in Greek, French, English, and Spanish.
His formal musical training began at an early age with the piano, which he later paired with academic studies in the humanities, earning a degree in Greek literature from the University of Athens.
Over his career, Perris has collaborated with leading international composers and vocalists. His creative partnerships include projects with Greek composer Mimis Plessas, tenor Mario Frangoulis, French composer Michel Legrand, operatic tenor Placido Domingo, and Australian pop star Tina Arena.
His recording catalog began in the Francophone market in 2012 with his debut French album, Un Souhait, which featured the duet Ma solitude recorded with Lara Fabian. He followed that project two years later with his 2014 English-language album, Picture This. His more recent releases include the 2025 studio album Mazi I Kanis and the 2026 live release In Concert.
Television broadcasts and humanitarian honours
Perris has gained widespread visibility in the United States through concert specials broadcast on the Public Broadcasting Service. His PBS programmes include A Sunset in Greece, a concert filmed on location at the ancient Temple of Aphaea on the island of Aegina.
Beyond his musical career, Perris has dedicated significant time to charitable advocacy. He has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in Greece since June 2022, focusing specifically on campaigns to combat violence against children.
The French Ministry of Culture has also recognized his artistic achievements, appointing him a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
With Perris confirmed as the performer, CyBC will turn its attention to evaluating song submissions once the December deadline passes, leading into the live televised selection show ahead of the May 2027 contest.
