Lá na Minha Terra premiere week sets up family conflict

Lá na Minha Terra premieres on Monday, November 9, following matriarch Rosenda as she fights to support her family in the sertão.

Rosenda, played by Dira Paes, remains convinced that her missing husband Severino, portrayed by Daniel de Oliveira, is still alive. Unknown to her, Severino now goes by the name Cesário and lives far away under the disdain of Ismália, played by Camila Morgado, while Rosenda faces relentless pressure from local figure Almerindo, played by Mateus Solano, who tries to win her over at any cost.

Tensions in the region deepen when clashes between Lina, played by Arianne Botelho, and vaqueiro Raimundo, played by Danilo Mesquita, ignite conflict. Their fraught relationship sparks jealousy from Socorro, played by Lucy Alves, and triggers a physical brawl with Rosenda's eldest son, Damaso, played by Miguel Rômulo, before an unexpected romance takes hold.

Family secrets and rural hardship

The story unfolds in the sertão, the vast semiarid hinterland of northeastern Brazil where rural families have long endured drought and economic hardship. Brazilian telenovelas often contrast the traditional cattle country of the interior with metropolitan centers such as São Paulo, exploring family survival and social divides.

On Monday, November 9, Lina confronts Raimundo Gerardo in the sertão while Rosenda struggles with household expenses. Rosenda asks Almerindo for more time to pay the rent on her house. Almerindo openly admires Rosenda, whose thoughts remain fixed on Severino.

Rosenda tells her children that their father is alive, while Águeda speaks to Brícia about the way Almerindo looks at their mother. Far away, Cesário misdirects Ismália to conceal his past life as Severino. Back in the backlands, Raimundo attempts to get close to Lina, while Águeda, Brícia, Damaso, and Rosenda worry when Lina goes missing and Almerindo finds Raimundo's delay unusual.

Fears grow on Tuesday, November 10, when bad weather sweeps through the area and Rosenda and her children fear for Lina. Raimundo confesses to Biró that he admires Lina, while Socorro tells Almerindo that she plans to search for Raimundo herself.

Almerindo meets Rosenda again and proposes that they unite. Meanwhile, Lina tells Raimundo about her father and explains that she believes he is still alive. Socorro catches Raimundo with Lina, leading both women to scold him, and Socorro tells Raimundo that he has never looked at her the way he looks at Lina. The day ends when Lina catches Rosenda together with Almerindo.

Romantic tensions and missing cattle

On Wednesday, November 11, Rosenda hides Almerindo's presence from Lina to deflect questions. In the city, Ismália speaks ill of the northeast, which angers Cesário. In town, Jacinta puts pressure on Gofredo regarding their relationship.

Damaso continues searching for Lina, unaware that his sister has already returned home. Damaso confronts Raimundo and Biró about her disappearance. Meanwhile, Águeda finds an unattended heifer calf, and Rosenda tells her daughter to locate the owner.

Cattle ranching duties soon spark violence. Almerindo questions Raimundo about the condition of his cattle. While Brícia and Rosenda talk about Águeda, Raimundo and Damaso attack each other in a physical fight, which ends only when Lina rushes in to pull the two men apart.

On Thursday, November 12, Lina defends Raimundo in front of Damaso. Almerindo steps in to halt the dispute and notes that Damaso is Rosenda's firstborn son. Almerindo orders Raimundo to track down lost cattle and tells Damaso to join the vaqueiro on the search.

Local grievances continue to emerge across the community. Lina complains about Gofredo's lack of composure, while Jacinta accuses Natércia of stealing Gofredo's clothes. Lina also questions Almerindo about his true feelings for Rosenda, while Águeda suspects something after overhearing a mysterious conversation between Rosenda and Brícia.

City deals and backland confrontations

In the city, corporate tensions build around Cesário's financial affairs. Ismália asks Daniel to tell her everything about Cesário's latest business discussions. When prospective partners Lourdes, played by Julia Dalavia, and Elias, played by Igor Lorenzo, prepare to negotiate with Cesário, Ismália confronts Cesário about the deal he wants to sign.

The business dispute intensifies on Friday, November 13, when Ismália forbids Cesário from negotiating with Lourdes and Elias, warning that he must not put the family estate at risk. Lourdes tells Elias that her father knows how to conduct good business.

Back in the sertão, Almerindo tells Rosenda that he wants to live with her, a statement that Brícia overhears. Rosenda rejects him and insists that she will wait for Severino to return. Almerindo then angers Rosenda by proposing to send her to São Paulo.

Out on the land, Damaso reacts when he discovers Socorro has been following him and Raimundo on Almerindo's orders. Damaso and Socorro soon find common ground and grow closer. Passion takes over between Lina and Raimundo as they kiss again, but Rosenda catches the couple together.

A mother torn and a church in crisis

The opening week ends on Saturday, November 14, with Rosenda separating Lina from Raimundo. Despite her misgivings, Rosenda offers shelter to the young cattle hand. Socorro warns Damaso that Cosminha and Saviana will speak ill of them around the community.

In the city, Cesário catches Alice going through his private safe and reprimands his daughter. Ismália speaks with Daniel again regarding Cesário, and her orders lead to Lourdes and Elias being barred from entering Cesário's office, halting their business negotiations.

Rifts within Rosenda's family also worsen when Rosenda visits Cosminha, who treats her sister-in-law rudely. Águeda is saddened when she loses the calf she found, after Brícia confirms the animal belongs to Almerindo. Cosminha complains to the church, speaking ill of Socorro to Father Honório. The drama peaks when Father Honório suddenly falls ill, leaving a frantic Cosminha in despair.
