Logan Roy, the imposing patriarch of ‘Succession’, is already history of the series. We review with Brian Cox the best insults of this HBO icon.
The foul-mouthed characters are liked and, if we have the real king of expletive at hand, it is impossible for us not to give in to the temptation of asking him about his favorite nonsense. that was how We talked to Brian Cox about his favorite Logan Roy insult in ‘Succession’, the brutal HBO Max series.
“I don’t know if it’s respect or not, but people ask me and they get nervous,” Cox says when asked if she’s noticed that since playing the imposing Logan, she’s noticed people treat him more cautiously. “Well, they’re not that nervous because they always want to… I mean, human beings are very strange“.
“There are very rare creatures,” he clarifies. “They want me to say ‘fuck off’. They want me to record a video with it. Can you tell me ‘fuck off’? And I go and: ‘fuck off’. It’s easy to know what they say to others: oh ‘fuck off’. Thank you. Thanks to you. Thank you, and you go. I don’t know. It’s weird to say ‘fuck off’.”
“Fuck offs” aside, the series is full of authentic fanciful language when it comes to sending an equal to shit, true cathedrals of opprobrium and insult with which one will not win heaven, but will stay at ease a while.
“I don’t remember phrases,” Cox admits. “I can’t quote anything from the show because, bufff… I’m flowing through them and, I mean, I’ve said some like ‘let’s go fucking beast’ and I’ve said so many things so I don’t even know anymore.”
And, taking advantage of the fact that we had the founder of Waystar Royco himself with us, and that Brian Cox was in a good mood after visiting the Prado Museum, we asked the interpreter who he thought would be the successor to ‘Succession’: “I have no idea. I really I don’t know and I don’t have the slightest interest. I mean, Logan Roy of course he has an interest, it’s Brian Cox who doesn’t. I have no interest.”
“I think what we’re seeing is a train wreck,” says the actor. “For four seasons you’re watching this train crash and we’ll see what happens when the end comes.”
Essential thanks to his roles in jewels such as ‘Braveheart’ (Mel Gibson, 1995), ‘The Bourne case’ (Doug Liman, 2002), ‘Adaptation. The orchid thief’ (Spike Jonze, 2002), ‘Troy’ (2004) and ‘Zodiac’ (David Fincher, 2007), Brian Cox will go down in history for his incredible incarnation of Logan Roythe head of the family of the impossible corporation that stars in ‘Succession’, a production that presents its fourth and final season making history, knowing that it has a more than deserved place at the top of the best series in history.
