Luciano talks about Ceni’s farewell and the change of role at San Paolo: ‘I have nothing to complain about him’

Under Dorival’s command, Luciano returns to second striker

Luciano was responsible for opening the scoring for São Paulo’s win against América-MG. After the end of the match, valid for the Brazilian championship, the number 10 spoke of Rogério Ceni’s farewell and his place in Dorival’s team.

One of the leading names in the Italian cast, the striker revealed how Ceni’s farewell backstage went last week. According to his report, the former coach was very emotional and treated the moment as “difficult because he was a great idol”. Still completed by stating “nothing to complain about”.

– It was difficult because he is a great idol, we were sad, he was moved when he said goodbye. We feel sad because he wanted to win, now it’s time to wish him good luck, I have nothing to complain about him- he said.

At the start of the season, Rogério Ceni tried to change Luciano’s positioning a bit, launching the athlete more as a guard midfielder and less as an attacking duo with Calleri.

In Dorival’s debut this Sunday (22nd), the number 10 returned to the role he had since he arrived in the team and declared that he feels much more comfortable as a second striker, but that ‘you can’t give wrong to Ceni because he trusted him as captain’.

– Since I arrived I made it clear that I was the second striker, I won’t blame Rogério because he gave me the captain’s belt, I have to thank him. Unfortunately it didn’t work, I didn’t give up, but I wish you good luck- he added.
