The end of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy marks the farewell of director James Gunn, who is now the co-CEO of DC Studios and, according to the film’s promotional material, marks a farewell to the characters. In fact, the feature film is an outcome of the saga of space heroes. However, as we can expect from a Marvel movie, there are post-credits scenes that indicate it won’t be the last we see of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and company. Check out the description of these scenes below.
Well, perhaps it needs to be said that the following content reveals important excerpts from the film, but here’s the reinforcement: !
First scene: a new leader and a new formation for the Guardians of the Galaxy
The film ends with an inevitable split of the team we know from the Guardians. The “new” Gamora (Zoë Saldaña) doesn’t actually join the team, but she ends up returning to the Ravagers, led by Stakar (Sylvester Stallone). Similarly, Mantis (Pom Klementieff) embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Drax (Dave Bautista) and Nebula (Karen Gillian) are charged with maintaining order in Lugarnohum. In turn, the leader, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) decides to return to Earth to face some problems from the past.
It looks like the end of the team, but Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) is being hailed as the new leader of the Guardians. And the first post-credit scene already shows the raccoon leading the team, made up of new faces (and an already familiar muzzle). The main novelties are Adam Warlock (Will Poulter), introduced in this volume 3 and Phyla (Kai Zen), one of the children saved from the High Evolutionary’s laboratory.
We still have Groot (Vin Diesel), who appears in a new physical form, and the official entry of Kraglin (Sean Gunn), who was already practically an honorary Guardian, and the dog Cosmo (Maria Bakalova), also acquired major prominence in this film. I mean, it’s the end of the team as we know it, but not the Guardians of the Galaxy. So the door is open for their return.
Second scene: Peter Quill’s homecoming

In this second and final post-credits scene, we get a glimpse of Peter Quill’s return to Earth. We see Star-Lord reunite with his grandfather, who he hasn’t seen in about 30 years. There is a brief conversation between the two, with his kinsman suggesting that Quill look for a job.
At first, it just seems like a last farewell line for the character. However, shortly after the end of the scene, the message appears: the legendary Star-Lord will return. Usually, this type of message in the MCU indicates a new film, but as of right now, nothing is announced. That could be an indication of a solo movie for the character or even the Guardians, but it’s likely that, at first, the now-former leader won’t be returning to the team anytime soon.
There is the possibility of participating in other characters’ films or even in a television series. It is worth mentioning that the post-credits scenes of (2022) also had a message like this announcing the return of the God of Thunder, and so far, no Asgardian plans have been announced.
