Kevin Page is back with Scott Derrickson’s departure for Doctor Strange 2 and the desire for the film to take us to a more dangerous aspect of the world.
In an interview with the magazine EmpireMarvel Studios President Kevin Page has returned to the reason why Scott Derrickson left Dr. Strange in the madness multiverse.
“Marvel and I both decided to break up with Dr. Strange because of creative differences in many worlds of madness. I am thankful to have collaborated on this project, of which I will continue to be a producer.“- The director said in a message posted on the social network.
A month later, Marvel announced that Sam Reim was taking control of Dr. Strange 2. The latter then started working with Michael Waldron, the new screenwriter, and they completely reworked the script.
Kevin Page explains that this disagreement was not about Derrickson’s desire to put a more awful tone on Doctor Strange’s sequel.

The Black Phone, Scott Derrickson’s next film, is a horror film he co-wrote with Dr. Strange, co-written by C. Robert Cargill. Inspired by a Joe Hill story, the feature film features Finn, a 13-year-old kidnapped by a sadistic killer. The young boy establishes a supernatural connection with the previous victims of his conqueror, played by Ethan Hawke. The film marks the comedian’s reunion with the director after 10 years of being a villain.
Black Phone will hit theaters on June 22, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit the big screen on May 4.
