Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 users can breathe a sigh of relief: Google has implemented a solution to the problem that causes overheating and battery drain.
Recently, several users of Pixels 6 AND pixels 7 it started reporting overheating and high battery drain issues. The anomaly, discovered after the May security update, has many owners on high alert and looking for solutions. Fortunately, the Google revealed that it has investigated the cases and corrected this error through an update on the server, thus ensuring the full resolution of the error.
What caused the problem?
The overheating and battery drain issue has been reported by multiple users on Reddit. Until then, the culprit seemed to be the Googleas many people have shared screenshots showing excessive power consumption in the background.
Some owners installed an older version of the app, but that didn’t provide a complete solution, while others tried a factory reset, which had no effect, causing more concerns about potential damage to the battery and processor of the device.

After a thorough analysis, the Google concluded that it was indeed a bug in their application, more specifically due to a recent backend change. The company has implemented a server-side update to fix this error, i.e. no user action is required.
It’s worth mentioning that problems in the Pixel lineup are not that uncommon. In May of last year, the search giant had to release an update to fix a bug that directly affected users of the Pixels 6 AND Pixel 6 Proas the devices haptic feedback was much weaker.
