In 4 months in the Chamber, Deltan allied himself with the Bolsonarists and presented 3 projects

Until impeached by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), MP Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) acted as one of the main voices of opposition to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the Chamber. In four months in office, Dallagnol tabled three bills, wrote two more, hired three rapporteurs, prepared 21 information requests to gather data and responses from the government, and addressed lawmakers linked to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Of the few agendas dear to Lula that have already been voted on by the Chamber, Dallagnol has sided against all of them. The impeached deputy opposed the urgency to vote on the tax framework and the Fake News Bill, voted to overturn Lula’s decree amending the rules of the Legal Sanitation Framework and rejected the bill that equalizes wages between men and women.

“We have a government that has a knife and cheese in hand, that has already overcome all the barriers of history, overcoming the anti-corruption rules, being a friend of dictators, and that has a knife and cheese in hand to muzzle Brazil,” he spoke Dallagnol defending his position against Fake News PL.

Member of the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ), the former prosecutor of Lava Jato was among the ten deputies who voted against the PEC Amnesty, which condones fines and electoral crimes committed by parties in the last elections. As shown the Stadiumthe PEC itself is now seen by Dallagnol’s defenders as a text that can be adjusted to include a device capable of granting him amnesty.

The Chamber of Deputies was informed of the TSE’s decision on the night of Wednesday 17. The following day, an emissary from the Chamber’s Internal Affairs Department was in Deltan’s office, but was not present. From the moment he personally receives the notification, he will have five days to present his defense. After preparing the report of the magistrate, the deputy Domingos Neto (PSD-CE), the process is sent to the Board of Directors, which must follow (or not) the loss of the mandate. That is, in practice, the decision of the TSE has not yet been applied.

Meanwhile, the mobilization around the former prosecutor is growing to try to save the mandate. This Sunday afternoon, 21, a demonstration is scheduled in favor of the accused deputy before the Federal Public Prosecutor (MPF), in Curitiba, where he acted against Lula in the Lava Jato task force.

Attendance: the Chamber’s attendance system records that Dallagnol was assiduous during the plenary sessions. His presence was noted 40 times and there was only one occasion of truancy

These were the statements made on February 28, the first time he used the microphone in the plenary session. The then-new MP complained about the removal of Marcelo Bretas from Rio’s 7th Federal Criminal Court. We owe him the trials resulting from the extinct Operation Lava Jato underway in the city.

In March Dallagnol returned to the stands. This time to complain about President Lula’s intention to appoint his lawyer Cristiano Zanin for a ministerial vacancy at the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The deputy quoted Zanin in defending that the project that gives the defendant victory every time a trial ends in a draw should not be approved.

Faced with the project of this government of avengers, I would like to tell the Brazilian people that I will never give up on Brazil, that I will continue to fight against corruption, against incompetence and against this government of revenge

Defending Sérgio Moro (União Brasil-PR)

These are Dallagnol’s words in his last speech in the plenary, last May 10th. He has also come out in defense of Senator Sérgio Moro (União Brasil-PR), former judge of Lava Jato, in three speeches. On two occasions it was when the former magistrate was the subject of death threats. On the platform he has criticized Lula at least three times and expressed a position contrary to Fake News PL.

Information obligations

Dallagnol is the author or co-author of 21 requests for information presented to the Chamber to collect data and responses from the Lula government on secrecy, public spending and measures taken by ministers:

travel costs

On April 12 Dallagnol and ten other deputies from Novo, PL, União Brasil, PP, Podemos and Patriotas asked the Prime Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, for a position on the denial of access to data on the costs of national expenses and travel international from Lula. The request is based on the reporting of Stadium which disclosed that the federal government withheld this information under the Access to Information Act (LAI) on the grounds that the data could jeopardize the safety of the President and Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, as well as their spouses and children

ships from Iran

Earlier in March, Dallagnol and four other opposition lawmakers tried to understand what prompted the Brazilian government to allow Iranian warships to dock in Rio. MPs wondered, for example, whether Itamaraty considered the possibility that the concession would have negative consequences on the country’s diplomatic relations with the United States.

Secom reports it

The former prosecutor also asked for information on the ban on access to social media monitoring reports produced by the Secretariat for Social Communications (Secom), the purchase of furniture without tender by the Presidency of the Republic and the measures taken by the administration PT against land invasions. by the Landless Movement (MST)

TCU and corruption

Twelve days before being charged, Dallagnol presented a request for information to the Commission of Inspection and Control of the Chamber to ask for explanations from the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU). He wanted the Court to inform how many cases he opened, how many fines he charged and what he did to develop the anti-corruption investigations launched in the last ten years. The main focus of the questions was Lava Jato. Dallagnol didn’t have time to wait for an answer. The request, although already approved by the commission, is still being processed by the Chamber
